Do you use any "note taking" systems / tools for developers?

Hi everyone!

I have just joined the community and this is my first question on the forum

So I’ve been using GitHub Gists for years now for documenting tutorial notes, useful code snippets, etc. (and love the whole write markdown, read html idea) but I was wondering if there are better alternatives for long term note taking, especially regarding organising and categorising them in a more logical order than just a pile of random .md files.

Any personal systems that you developed yourself or perhaps some interesting tools?

Thanks,
Ovi.

I have just been using the notes app (macOS) - you can create folders - there’s no markdown or anything, though, so it’s not ideal. I guess you could use a github wiki or a webapp maybe if you want a way to keep it all organized, and keep the markdown.
